Emphasizes articles on issues of race, class, gender, sexuality, and politics. Publishes a small but noteworthy review section as well as reader's guides to literature for special issues. For ex., Vol. 93, no. 2, was devoted to media activism and contained a bibliography on the topic. It also contained a review of multiple new works on racial politics and theory by Howard Winant (of Omi & Winant).
