Julia Newton is responsible for human relations and fiscal management.  Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, Ms. Newton has been working on campus since 2001.  In addition to her work managing payroll, travel, and other financial matters for the department, Ms. Newton is a mother of four adult sons and enjoys her interactions with American Studies students.

Betsy Yuen is the departmental administrative assistant responsible for course scheduling, book orders, and other academic support.  A Prince George’s County native, she earned her B.A. in Sociology from the University of Maryland.  In her spare time, Ms. Yuen is an avid gamer and enjoys baking, cartoons, concerts, and fantasy football.
