Our goal for this site is to provide you with a set of resources including directories, bibliographies, and on-line examples, to aid you in your use of artifacts as objects of study. We -- the Material Culture Caucus of the American Studies Association -- are a group who comes together around our shared participation in material culture study within the field of American Studies.

With this site we hope to provide an interdisciplinary starting point both for scholars already working in material culture study (in academic and/or museum settings) and for those who are interested in incorporating artifacts into their related pursuits of history, art, literature, culture, &c. We are also working to create a useful teaching resource, and welcome students at every opportunity.
