Book Signing for Handmade Holiday Cards by Mary Savig, AMST Grad Student and Smithsonian Archive Specialist

Mary Savig, AMST doctoral student and Smithsonian archive specialist will be signing copies of her new book, Handmade Holiday Cards by 20th Century American Artists, today from 5:30pm-8:30pm at Cafe Saint-Ex.  The book displays 190 examples of how artists imagined the holidays through original watercolors, etchings, silk-screen prints, and drawings.  Rarely seen beyond the eyes of their recipients, these cards confirm the irrepressible artistry of their senders, including such acclaimed artists as Josef Albers, Alexander Calder, John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Robert Motherwell, Nickolas Muray, and Ad Reinhardt.  Handmade Holiday Cards is a must-have for those interested in greeting cards, ephemeral art, illustrated correspondence, and the history of American art.

This event is free and open to the public.  More information can be found here.
