American Studies Alumnus, Dr. Gary Ford, Honored for His Work on the Constance Baker Motley Postage Stamp

Dr. Gary Ford, an esteemed alumnus of American Studies, helps unveil the new postage stamp for the Honorable Constance Baker Motley.

We are delighted to congratulate Dr. Gary Ford (AMST PhD 2013) graduate, on his significant contribution to the unveiling of the Honorable Constance Baker Motley postage stamp. This historic event took place on January 31, 2024, in New York, where a postage stamp featuring Judge Motley was revealed to the public.

Dr. Ford currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Africana Studies Department at Lehman College. He is well-known for being the author of the first biography on Motley, titled Constance Baker Motley One Woman's Fight For Civil Rights And Equal Justice Under Law, published in 2017. His work continues to have a significant impact on the field of civil rights history.
